How is true happiness found

It seems that many of the conclusions above indicate the happiness is basically a choice we make. We have to chose activities that are meaningful and absorbing in order to feel a sense of significance that leads to happiness.

I ahte to think of that much of my emotions being outside of my control. How did they determine that?
