Why is vlc bad for anime

Enter the command to install the apt version of VLC. Improve this answer. Archisman Panigrahi Archisman Panigrahi I just updated the question - problem with stripes returned last week.

I have reinstalled VLC as you suggested installed via Terminal sudo apt-get install vlc, not a snap version , but now it is still the same. Much worse quality than other players I had the same problem, but in my case, I didn't install it using snap. Almeida B. Almeida 1 1 bronze badge. Sign up or log in Sign up using Google. Related 1. It certainly is the worst audio player, clipping like no tomorrow. Can you share the files where you see that? VLC 4. I'll try to search for the clipping files. It's been some time, and I don't remember exactly what it was.

They did play perfectly in other players. I do remember the offending song had a deep sine wave bass. The issue sounded like non-saturated clipping, integer overflow.

It drove me crazy, because at first I suspected my bluetooth headphones, etc. But nothing helped. Edit: Couldn't find the files for now. I'll make sure to send them to you once I find them. Right now it's on the verge of being the worst audio player too. Mp4 files? What format?

What OS? I will look at that, thanks. This is fixed for VLC 4. In the nightly build? Was it a new bug or old one? Yes, the nightly build. I don't get it. I don't understand. VLC is simpler to use. I've been using it for years and haven't had any problems. So can someone please tell me whats wrong with VLC? Bloodshade said: I also heard people talking about madVR Bloodshade said: Why is it only people in anime communities recommending using mpc over vlc?

They've both got their strengths, but MPC is more hipster so there's a vocal minority. I only use VLC for music. For everything else, there's Mastercard MPC. As for why, my computer was shit and took a ton of time to ready the subs, so I got sick and started using MPC which didn't take that shit. It also helps that I can simply click next and go to the next file, which is usually the next episode. Don't have to fiddle with codecs and it just works. VLC is solid stuff.

I see no reason to go back since I haven't had a problem with MPC. Bloodshade said: VLC is simpler to use. Bloodshade said: So, do you recommend doing this? I've read a recent guide for setting it up, but they say not to use cccp because its outdated.

I always use VLC, and I've had no problems with it. Nothing, VLC plays stuff, but just that. I imagine the people bashing VLC use settings similar to this. Bloodshade said: I see well that picture explains the difference well, however, is there anyway to tell on the actual media file if its 10 bit or 8 bit?

Also most of my files are in. I didn't encode at all, I simply ripped it. So would it be 10 bit? BatoKusanagi said: Use ffdshow. BatoKusanagi said: j0x said: BatoKusanagi said: Use ffdshow. Bloodshade said: What about the monitor type? Would bit matter on an 8-bit monitor? I used to use VLC when I had a netbook around 4 years ago.

It kept on lagging since it takes up a bigger memory. Tried to Google other media players and found MPC. Installed it and never experienced lagging I assumed it consumes a smaller memory compared to VLC so I kinda stuck with it even if I'm no longer using a netbook. Also, the pre-installed media player my tablet had was VLC. Tried playing my. Signature removed. Would anyone happen to know which MadVR scaling algorithm preset do I use?

It's good for watching porn. Bloodshade said: I think its mostly for some kind of audio rendering. I listened to the samples on the page you linked me. I could barely tell the difference. In any case, re-clock settings are kind of confusing, so I wouldn't know what I would set them too.

Its mainly for audio rendering. What do you think I should do with reclock? It is disabled by default in my settings. I have the highest setting preset for madVR it hasn't given me play back issues, and neither has the smooth motion with excessive dropped frames.

Should I have full screen exclusive mode on? Do I have to change any of the default settings in them? S: Sorry for all the questions, its just kind of confusing. Tensho said: Bloodshade said: I think its mostly for some kind of audio rendering.

I tried Everything else has at least one major flaw. I think VLC is great, never had any problems with it. Not that I've tried a lot of other players, I mean VLC works just fine, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Tensho said: I think VLC only struggles with the heaviest typesetting, it's always worked well for me in the little time I've used it and I found is more efficient on CPU resources when I tried on my laptop.

VLC's basically your no nonsense solution to playing stuff though- a jack of all trades. I've got a bit of an ancient cpu though so rendering fancy subtitle effects at desktop resolution lags the player lol.

It used to crash from a now patched bug in xysubfilter xD so I ain't complaining I should upgrade the codec pack every now but if ain't broke don't fix it I guess? People who complain about VLC mostly have mobile or outdated chips under the hood.
