When was moses resurrected
Mar 9: 4 And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. Mar 9: 5 Peter, taking the floor, said to Jesus: Master, it is good for us to be here; so let us make three huts, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. Mar 9: 6 For he did not know what to say, because they were frightened. See that it was possible to interact with Jesus while he was talking to Elijah and Moses.
See that it is possible for Jesus to have talked for a long time with Moses and Elijah, because neither in Mark nor in Matthew does he say how long it lasted. But it took the necessary time for Peter to think that it was necessary to build huts because of the night, which is presumed that Jesus had a long conversation. If it were something quick, the disciples would just say, "ahhhh!!!!!
Let's see now in Lucas. Luk And, behold, two men, Moses and Elijah, were talking to him, Luk who appeared with glory, and spoke of his departure which was to be fulfilled in Jerusalem. Luk Now Peter and those with him had been overcome by sleep; but when they awoke, they saw his glory and the two men who were with him. Luk And when they departed from him, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: let us therefore make three huts, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah, not knowing what he was saying.
See that Peter and the disciples were sleeping, how long did they sleep? It seems to have been a long time. And then they saw the two men.
As they knew it was Moses and Elijah, there was no camera at the time, the only way is that Jesus said, or they did. This website allows dissenting comments and beliefs, but our comment sections are not a forum for ongoing debate.
Caller: Hi Doug. Pastor Doug: Hi - how are you doing? Caller: Good. It's a pleasure listening to you. I cross the state every fourth weekend, back and forth in Washington, and listen to you. Your show is a real blessing. My question is inaudible as I was listening to the other fellow regarding are the dead really dead - that there was one instance where Christ was with a couple of His disciples and uh, He was with Moses and Elijah. I understand Moses died and Elijah didn't actually - he was inaudible into Heaven the way I understand it but uh, I was wondering how you would respond to that.
Were they resurrected? Pastor Doug: Well that's a good question. First of all I think it's interesting. The last thing it says in the Old Testament is remember the Law of Moses. Behold I send you Elijah the Prophet.
Well we know about Elijah. He received an angelic escort. He never did die. So we know how he got to Heaven. If you go to the book of Jude, it tells us that Michael the Archangel resurrected Moses. Moses received a special resurrection.
Now this is not in the Bible, but it is in Jewish tradition that three days after Moses died, the Lord came and resurrected him. We have reason to believe that that's true because we do have this passage of Scripture in Jude that Moses received a special resurrection and they Moses and Elijah are not the only exceptions.
Incidentally that's Jude chapter 1 verse 9. On this occasion not all are resurrected, but only some of the righteous and some of the wicked. Consequently it is referred to as the Partial Resurrection. It takes place before the coming of Jesus. When Jesus comes these special righteous people still living on the earth will be waiting for Him.
They are called the first fruits. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Even so, Amen. Therefore they will come out of the graves in the time of trouble, at the Partial Resurrection. Jesus promised to resurrect those who believe in Him and do His will.
I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. The First General Resurrection will be the resurrection of the saints or righteous. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shalt be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. No wicked ones will he resurrected at the First General Resurrection because the Word of God says those raised at the first resurrection are blessed and that the second death will have no power over them.
